The first time I heard these words from Captain Jean-Luc Picard of Star Trek: The Next Generation, created by Gene Roddenberry, I was fascinated. Something deep inside me resonated very strongly with exploring the unknown and discovering new ways of being or doing, of going beyond our threshold and belief systems. I discovered that in my heart, I am an explorer. I explore possibilities and I like to do things that others often cannot conceive of or believe. The technology and tools Gene Roddenberry brought to humanity in the 60s have now become a part of our everyday life. Gadgets like flip phones, cell phones, laptops, I-Pads, tablets, flat panel monitors, advanced communication networks, wireless data transmission systems, touch panels, handheld scanners…you name it! They are a part of our everyday lives. We are only missing the Enterprise and a Warp Drive, but surely, not for long. He opened up our hearts and minds to possibilities beyond imagination.
A lot of people ask me to help them align with their vision and life-purpose. What really excites you? What can you do for the rest of your life without getting bored? What would you continue to do from your heart even if you didn’t get paid? What are some things that you would do if all of your basic and luxury needs were taken care of? What makes you smile even when you are going through challenges in your life? What awakens your gifts and talents?
I would say that alignment with your truth, your soul purpose and your path is very closely tied to the questions above. And as you grow and expand, your vision and purpose can also expand and change. If you look at the history of the earth, who are some of the people that touch your heart? Why? How? What are some of the qualities that attract you? Think about these questions and explore your truth. When you come to a conclusion based on your feelings and what ignites the Divine spark deep within you instead of being told by someone, there will always be a deep sense of adventure and satisfaction.
Find a visionary who can ignite a spark of light in your heart. Then allow your inner visionary to awaken this year. Where would life take you?
